Mobile Application Available · Data Export Deadline Shortened
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Seoul City announced on the 31st that it will open a 'Big Data Campus' in July at the 'AI Yangjae Hub' in Umyeon-dong, Seocho-gu, where private and public data collected since 2013 can be freely shared, analyzed, and utilized by the public, government, industry, and academia. This is the fifth branch following the main Big Data Campus located in Sangam-dong, Mapo, as well as Gangnam Tipstown, Dongdaemun Seoul City University, and Seocho Seoul Institute.
At the Yangjae Hub Big Data Campus, the same big data as the main campus in Sangam-dong can be accessed. It allows viewing of private data that citizens find difficult to access, such as credit card, public transportation, and floating population data, as well as detailed public data including resident population and IoT data.
The city expects that with the opening of this branch, collaboration with 69 AI companies already residing in the Yangjae Hub will be possible, enabling joint efforts to solve various urban problems in Seoul using big data. Accessibility and convenience for nearby citizens to use the Big Data Campus will also be improved.
In response to the post-COVID-19 era and the increasing demand for high-quality data to create new business models, the functions of the Big Data Campus have been significantly enhanced. Citizens can now apply to use the Big Data Campus via mobile devices such as smartphones.
Also, the data export application process, which previously took up to 14 days through private sector review, is now reviewed internally by Seoul City and can be completed as quickly as the same day or within 5 days at the latest.
Seoul City has additionally secured and opened nine new data types from both public and private sectors, including five data products from the 'Seoul City Public-Private Joint Convergence Data Production Project' and four types of original IoT sensor data. Data requiring immediate analysis, such as resident population data and transportation card data, are updated daily so that citizens can always access the latest data.
Meanwhile, citizens who wish to download public data online without visiting the site can use the 'Seoul Open Data Plaza (data.seoul.go.kr)'.
