[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Social media platform Twitter once again labeled a tweet by U.S. President Donald Trump on the 29th (local time) with a 'warning' for 'glorifying violence.' In response, President Trump immediately referred to the executive order he issued the previous day and countered that 'immunity for social media companies must be revoked.'

According to major foreign media, around midnight on the same day, President Trump posted on his Twitter account regarding the ongoing protests sparked by the death of a Black man due to the harsh actions of a white police officer in Minneapolis. He wrote, "These thugs are dishonoring the memory of George Floyd (the deceased)."

Upon posting this tweet, Twitter replaced the original text with a notice stating, "This tweet violates Twitter's rules about glorifying violence." However, it added, "We have determined that it may be in the public's interest to allow this tweet to remain accessible," and by clicking 'View,' the original post was displayed.

President Trump immediately countered Twitter's 'warning' by mentioning the repeal of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, which grants legal immunity to social media companies for user-generated content. He wrote, "Twitter does nothing about the lies and propaganda coming from China or the radical left Democrats. They target Republicans, conservatives, and the President of the United States," adding, "Section 230 must be repealed by Congress."

Earlier, on the 26th, Twitter had attached a warning label indicating 'fact-check needed' under two of President Trump's tweets claiming that mail-in voting could lead to election fraud. Subsequently, on the 28th, President Trump signed an executive order that could reduce the immunity protections granted to IT companies under the Communications Decency Act.
