Exhibition Booth Sales Reservation Rate at 72%, Event Preparation Progressing Smoothly... Call for Paper Submissions on the 29th
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] The reservation rate for exhibition booths at the Daegu World Gas Congress, scheduled to be held in June next year, has surpassed 70%.
Preparations for the event are progressing smoothly despite concerns over the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), including the start of domestic and international calls for papers to be presented at the congress from the 29th.
According to Daegu City and the World Gas Congress Organizing Committee, preparations related to the congress are operating normally without any significant impact from COVID-19 so far.
The accommodation securing rate for participants is 73%, and the expansion construction of the EXCO exhibition hall is about 40% complete, which Daegu City explains is somewhat ahead of the original schedule.
The Organizing Committee will call for papers domestically and internationally from the 29th to finalize the presenters for the academic conference of the congress. The theme of this Gas Congress academic conference is "A Sustainable Future-Powered by Gas." Among the conference sections divided into keynote speeches, current issue discussions, industry insights, and technological innovation, the call for papers covers 39 sessions in industry insights and 26 sessions in technological innovation.
The call for papers will continue until October 19, and the final presenters will be selected by reviewing the submitted papers by category.
Lee Hyun-mo, head of the Daegu World Gas Congress Support Group, said, "Fortunately, the World Gas Congress is scheduled for next year, and preparations can be sufficiently conducted non-face-to-face, so there is no impact from COVID-19," adding, "This event offers the most efficient business opportunities to global energy companies, which is why the participation reservation rate is high."
Meanwhile, the World Gas Congress is held every three years under the auspices of the International Gas Union. It is the largest international event in the global gas industry, with more than 15,000 participants from over 90 countries. South Korea was selected as the host of the "28th Congress" in 2021 after a fierce competition that went to a final vote following three attempts in 2014.
