[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Eunpyeong-gu (District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) is producing 'summer cool masks' through public-private cooperation due to the prolonged spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The newly produced 'summer cool masks' were made possible by the voluntary participation and talent donation of Saemaeul Women's Association members, following the first production of 'cotton masks' by the Saemaeul Movement Eunpyeong-gu Branch (President Kim Chang-woon).
The 'summer cool masks' are made from materials that are easy to wear even in summer as temperatures gradually rise, and when equipped with filters, they are expected to have the same effect as health masks.
The Saemaeul Women's Association, which produced 2,000 masks with the mindset of 'Eunpyeong overcomes COVID-19 together with our neighbors,' strictly adhered to infection prevention guidelines during the production process.
The masks produced in this way will be distributed free of charge to vulnerable or marginalized groups such as the elderly and low-income households.
District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung said, “I hope these efforts will contribute to ending COVID-19 and that all Eunpyeong residents will soon regain a vibrant daily life.”
