[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] On the 28th, Gimhae City in Gyeongnam held a meeting of the Public-Private Council for Community Integrated Care (Chairperson Choi Boon-yi) at the Small and Medium Business Center.

Due to the cancellation of the first quarter meeting amid the COVID-19 pandemic, this meeting was the first held this year, attended by about 60 people including experts in welfare and healthcare fields and related public officials.

At the meeting, discussions were held on the progress of the Ministry of Health and Welfare's community integrated care (Community Care) pilot project for the elderly, which the city has been promoting since last year, as well as new projects to be launched in 2020.

The city’s community integrated care model involves cooperative medical and welfare institutions collaborating to share necessary services for elderly patients discharged after surgery, providing integrated services linking housing, care, nursing, and medical support during the recovery period. This year, the city plans to expand participating institutions and systematize the linkage method through a manual to enhance the model’s completeness.

Additionally, as the Care Safety Housing, the most important element of community integrated care, is set to begin construction in the second half of this year with support from LH, experts in welfare, healthcare, and housing fields exchanged opinions to create the most suitable Care Safety Housing.

The chairperson stated, "Let us strive to become the best local government among the leading municipalities in community integrated care by having private experts in welfare and healthcare fields and related public officials collaborate closely."
