[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced on the 28th that one confirmed case of coronavirus infection (COVID-19) related to the Coupang logistics center has occurred.

The confirmed case is a 52-year-old woman, Ms. A, who works at the Bucheon Coupang logistics center. It was revealed that Ms. A lives in Siheung 2-dong, Geumcheon-gu, with six family members including her mother-in-law, spouse, and two children.

Ms. A entered self-quarantine starting from the 24th. Although she had no related symptoms, she was tested at the Geumcheon-gu Public Health Center screening clinic on the 27th and received a final positive diagnosis on the morning of the 28th. Ms. A is scheduled to be transferred to Seonam Hospital, a nationally designated hospital, on the same day.

The district immediately placed Ms. A’s six family members under self-quarantine, conducted specimen tests on the same day, and plans to carry out intensive disinfection around the Siheung 2-dong residential area.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the district is 15. Patients numbered 1 to 13 have recovered, and patient number 14 is currently undergoing treatment.

Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, stated, “We will promptly and accurately disclose the movements of the confirmed patient as soon as the precise epidemiological investigation results are available to prevent further infections.” He added, “Recently, infections have been rampant in blind spots of the government’s daily quarantine guidelines such as Itaewon clubs, Coupang logistics centers, first birthday parties, and churches. We ask residents to strictly adhere to the government’s daily quarantine guidelines, including social distancing in daily life.”
