Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education Partially Opens 'Public Library Reading Rooms' Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education announced on the 28th that it will partially open the reading rooms of its affiliated public libraries, education and culture centers, and lifelong education centers starting from the 1st of next month, in accordance with the phased return to school for elementary, middle, and high schools.

The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education will allow 30% of the total seats in the reading rooms during the severe infection alert stage and 50% during the caution stage, adjusting the number of users within the scope of adhering to the 'social distancing in daily life' guidelines.

Additionally, measures such as installing thermal cameras and other quarantine equipment, managing user entry, maintaining spacing (1-2 meters) and installing partitions within the reading rooms to minimize contact, and strengthening disinfection will be implemented before opening.

The Office of Education has issued guidelines on COVID-19 prevention education and instructions to each library to ensure thorough preparation before opening, and plans to conduct inspections on the response situation for two weeks starting early next month.

Various events and programs will be operated in a limited manner starting from the 8th of next month. However, large-scale events will be avoided, and operations will be conducted in ways that minimize participant crowding, such as dividing groups and staggering times.

Yoon Myung-sik, Director of Administration, stated, “Due to the prolonged closure caused by COVID-19, we decided to operate in a limited manner by stages even during the severe stage to minimize inconvenience to users. We will do our best to provide a safe library environment for students and users, so we ask users to strictly follow the quarantine guidelines.”
