World Premiere in Korea... BMW New 5 and 6 Series

[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] The BMW New 5 Series and New 6 Series, scheduled for domestic release in the fourth quarter of this year, are models that were unveiled first in the world in Korea, attracting significant attention.

The exterior of the New 5 Series is meticulously refined, clearly showcasing its distinctive strong presence and sporty style. In particular, the front kidney grille, integrated into a single frame, has grown larger in all directions and extends to the front apron, resulting in a sophisticated transformation. The New 6 Series emphasizes a more dynamic appearance. With a long bonnet, a wheelbase of 3070 mm, and a roofline that gracefully extends backward, it completes the characteristic Gran Turismo silhouette.

The New 5 Series offers three gasoline engines ranging from 184 horsepower to 340 horsepower, as well as three diesel engine options. The New 6 Series is equipped with two gasoline engines delivering between 190 and 340 horsepower and three diesel engines. All engines come with an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission and feature 48V mild hybrid technology.

The plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models, New 530e Touring and New 530e xDrive Touring, are also introduced. They combine a 4-cylinder gasoline engine producing 184 horsepower with an electric motor delivering up to 109 horsepower, resulting in a total output of 292 horsepower. The maximum pure electric driving range is up to 62 km for the BMW New 530e Touring and up to 56 km for the BMW New 530e xDrive Touring. The PHEV models also feature BMW eDrive Zone technology, which uses location-based geofencing to automatically switch to pure electric mode when the vehicle enters urban emission-restricted zones.

Convenience features have been significantly enhanced. The New 5 Series Driving Assistant Professional package now includes active navigation along with improved steering and lane-keeping assist functions. Additionally, the New 6 Series offers a 3D visualization feature of the surrounding environment.

Meanwhile, to commemorate this world premiere, BMW Korea will provide an opportunity to preview the New 5 Series and New 6 Series Gran Turismo at the BMW Driving Center from May 31 to June 28.
