[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) held the first general meeting of the "2nd Geumcheon Youth Network (hereinafter Geumcheongnet)" on the 26th via an online video conference.

Now in its second term, Geumcheongnet recruited a total of 28 youth committee members through a public contest in March. To enhance understanding of governance and youth policies and provide activity information, youth committee members participated in a local government participation education session held at the Lifelong Learning Center of the district office on the 11th.

Originally, a launch ceremony was planned where all members would gather to receive appointment certificates and hold the general meeting, but it was replaced by an online video conference to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

At this meeting, since it was the first time the 2nd Geumcheongnet members met, they introduced themselves and shared reasons for applying to Geumcheongnet and activities they wanted to pursue, allowing them to get to know each other.

Following this, each member will individually submit policy and project proposals by the first week of June. After categorizing the agenda, roundtable meetings and in-depth discussions will be held by agenda. Through this process, subcommittees will be formed and subcommittee leaders elected.

Geumcheongnet is an active resident participation platform that discovers and proposes various policy agendas to solve youth issues, such as everyday problems based on living areas, urban issues at the regional level, and supporting the activation of youth policy governance in the autonomous district.

Previously, instead of a certificate awarding ceremony, the district office sent appointment certificates to members by mail. The district collected photos of members with their certificates and produced and shared a video of the certificate recognition ceremony along with a greeting from Mayor Yu Seong-hoon, substituting for the awarding ceremony.

Going forward, the "2nd Geumcheon-gu Youth Network" members plan to monitor their respective areas of interest regarding youth policies until March next year, gather opinions from local youth, and propose various ideas to solve youth issues.

Mayor Yu Seong-hoon said, "I ask for active participation with creativity and passion so that the new ideas discovered by the youth can be connected to actual policies," adding, "The district will also spare no support and effort as a 'Youth-Friendly City Geumcheon,' including supporting youth entrepreneurship challenges and self-reliance foundations."
