[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Kim Seul-ah, CEO of Market Kurly, apologized for the occurrence of a COVID-19 case among employees at the Sangon1 Logistics Center in Jangji-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul.
On the 28th, CEO Kim issued an apology statement saying, "I sincerely apologize for causing concern to our customers," and added, "All products that cannot be disinfected will be discarded, and the disinfection inspection cycle will be shortened by half."
CEO Kim emphasized, "The confirmed case was limited to the Sangon1 Center among Market Kurly's various logistics centers," and explained, "The Sangon1 Center and other logistics centers storing refrigerated and frozen products are physically completely separated, and there is no interaction between employees. You can safely consume the refrigerated and frozen products currently being sold."
She also stated, "We will transparently communicate all progress without hiding any information regarding customers' concerns."
Meanwhile, on the 27th, Market Kurly was notified by health authorities of employee A's positive COVID-19 diagnosis at the Sangon1 Logistics Center and immediately closed the Sangon1 Logistics Center entirely. Subsequently, a full investigation and self-quarantine measures were implemented for employees who worked on the 24th and those who had high contact with the confirmed case.
However, the Refrigerated Centers 1 and 2, located in the same Jangji-dong logistics complex, are physically distant and have no employee interaction, so they were decided to continue normal operations.
It is presumed that employee A was infected after attending a business briefing in Daejeon on the 23rd with a recently confirmed COVID-19 positive employee from the Coupang logistics center.
