Encouragement Award Prize Money of 1 Million Won Donated as Relief Fund for Underprivileged Groups Overcoming COVID-19
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Public officials of Gangbuk-gu (District Mayor Park Kyum-soo) donated the 1 million KRW prize money from the 2020 Seoul Creative Award to the Community Chest of Korea.
The donation will be delivered to underprivileged groups struggling due to the novel coronavirus COVID-19.
Joo-wan Park, Team Leader of the Real Estate Information Division at Gangbuk-gu Office, and Seok-jun Park, Administrative Officer, stated, “We wanted to offer even a small help to neighbors having a hard time due to the impact of COVID-19,” and “We are glad to use the prize money we received for winning the Encouragement Award in the Creative Proposal category in a meaningful way.”
Their proposed “Automatic Parking Fee Discount Service” centers on linking discount vehicle information with the vehicle registration system to implement an automatic discount function. It enhances residents’ convenience by allowing discounts at unmanned payment machines in public parking lots without any separate procedures.
The district plans to adopt this proposal and implement the automatic discount service as soon as the vehicle information linkage program is installed.
Gangbuk-gu Mayor Park Kyum-soo said, “I am grateful that they willingly donated the entire prize money received as part of their efforts to improve work,” and “I hope the employees’ goodwill and sharing toward neighbors in need will return as greater hope and happiness.”
