A Refined Space with Studio and Library... Programs Offered Including 'Literacy and Informatization Education' and 'Culture and Physical Education Classes'
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jung Soon-gyun) opened the ‘Nongain Shelter,’ a complex community space for the hearing impaired, on the 11th at the Sign Language Interpretation Center in Nonhyeon-dong (343 Hakdong-ro, Basement 2nd floor).
The shelter, covering an area of 435.1㎡, is an exclusive space for about 1,900 hearing-impaired residents in the area, featuring a nature-friendly design and layout using birch trees and other elements to enhance comfort.
It is also equipped with a studio for producing content such as sign language news, a small library with books and media videos, and provides counseling and sign language interpretation services.
Additionally, the district plans to offer various programs for the hearing impaired, including literacy and informatization education, cultural and sports classes, and reading guidance, while conducting disability awareness improvement activities such as sign language education and volunteering for non-disabled individuals.
