[Asia Economy Reporters Kim Hyemin and Im Chunhan] On the 27th, the United Future Party held a Standing National Committee meeting and passed a party constitution amendment to extend the term of the 'Kim Jong-in Emergency Response Committee System' until after the end of August. The emergency committee members, mainly in their 30s and 40s, were also confirmed on the same day.

The United Future Party held the Standing National Committee meeting at the National Assembly Members' Office Building in the afternoon and passed the agenda.

Since the Standing National Committee had previously been canceled once, there was a possibility of disruption, but this time, 23 out of 41 committee members attended, meeting the quorum. The United Future Party then held a National Committee meeting to approve the agenda passed by the Standing National Committee and the resolution for the merger with the Future Korea Party.

With the passage of the party constitution amendment at both the Standing National Committee and the National Committee, the term of the 'Kim Jong-in Emergency Response Committee' is expected to be guaranteed until April 7 of next year. The amendment specifies that the bylaw for the next party convention, which is to be held by August 31, will not apply if there is an emergency response committee.

Along with this, the United Future Party submitted and approved the emergency committee member proposal as originally planned. Ex officio members include Floor Leader Joo Ho-young and Policy Committee Chairman Lee Jong-bae. Among first-term lawmakers, elected member Kim Mi-ae was included, and among second-term lawmakers, member Sung Il-jong was included. Outside the National Assembly, former 20th proportional representative lawmaker Kim Hyun-ah, Kim Byung-min, head of the Seoul Gwangjin-gu Gap organization committee, Kim Jae-seop, head of the Dobong-gu Gap organization committee, and Jeong Won-seok, former Gangnam-eul party committee chairman, were included. Except for the ex officio members, most are young politicians in their 30s and 40s.

The resolution for the merger with the Future Korea Party was also passed at the National Committee. The Future Korea Party had also finalized the merger with the United Future Party through a resolution on the 26th. Once the merger resolution committee's decision and registration with the National Election Commission are completed, the merger process will be finalized.

Floor Leader Joo said, "It was a heavy heart as the leadership system was not organized and the merger issue was not resolved even 50 days after the election," adding, "There were crises, but the merger was resolved and we became one as originally intended." He continued, "The leadership system, which had not been resolved for a month, was also unanimously decided, and from tomorrow, we will move forward for innovation and victory in the presidential election," adding, "Everyone knows our party is in difficulty. However, we will thoroughly start from the basics and work together from the people's perspective."
