Hanwha Defense 3 Companies Pay Patriotic Tribute at National Cemetery

Hanwha Defense 3 Companies Pay Patriotic Tribute at National Cemetery Last January, Ok Kyung-seok, CEO of Hanwha Co., Ltd., and executives visited the National Cemetery to pay their respects.

[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Hanwha Group's defense affiliates (Hanwha Corporation, Hanwha Systems, Hanwha Defense) announced on the 28th that they visited the National Seoul National Cemetery (located on Hyeonchung-ro, Dongjak-gu) the day before to hold a joint memorial service and volunteer activities for cemetery maintenance ahead of the Month of Patriots and Veterans.

The event was attended by Hanwha Corporation CEO Ok Kyung-seok, Hanwha Systems CEO Kim Yeon-cheol, Hanwha Defense CEO Lee Sung-soo, as well as executives and employees of Hanwha Group's defense affiliates.

Since signing a sisterhood agreement with the National Seoul National Cemetery in 2011, Hanwha Group has conducted annual visits to the cemetery for 10 consecutive years this year. Participants adhered to daily quarantine guidelines and, as in previous years, paid respects to the spirits of the patriotic martyrs, offered flowers with sincerity, and carried out volunteer activities to maintain the cemetery grounds.

A Hanwha representative stated, "The spirit of patriotism shown by independence activists and military personnel during national crises resonates even more deeply now, as everyone faces difficulties due to COVID-19. We will do our best to ensure that the noble sacrifices of national merit recipients are not in vain by contributing to the security of the Republic of Korea and the development of the defense industry."

As defense industry companies, Hanwha Group's defense affiliates fulfill their social responsibilities and roles, practicing the ideology of serving the nation through business by engaging in various veterans-related activities. In addition to visiting the cemetery and maintaining the burial grounds, they are involved in improving the living environments of national merit recipients, operating the Love for the Nation Food Bank, supporting veterans' nursing homes, and other efforts to share patriotic spirit and honor the legacy of the forebears.
