[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Gominhyeong] The government has embarked on establishing a national comprehensive food strategy centered on the Jeonju Food Plan, which protects citizens' food sovereignty.
The Presidential Committee on Agriculture, Fisheries, and Rural Affairs (hereinafter referred to as the Agricultural Special Committee) held an on-site meeting for the establishment of the national comprehensive food strategy on the 27th at the Flower Heart Multipurpose Room of Jeonju City Library, attended by about 50 people including Agricultural Special Committee officials and food strategy officials from the Jeonbuk region.
This event was organized as a gathering of officials from metropolitan and local governments that are implementing or establishing the basic food plan, the "Food Plan," ahead of the establishment of the national comprehensive food strategy, to strengthen the linkage with the future national food strategy.
At the meeting, Kang Seong-wook, head of the Jeonju Food Integrated Support Center, introduced the process of establishing and executing the Food Plan for the first time nationwide in 2015 under the theme of "The main roles and achievements of the intermediary organization (Food Integrated Support Center)."
In particular, Director Kang explained the current status of food in Jeonju and its connection with the Jeonju Food 2025 Plan, focusing on the direction and tasks for the future of Jeonju Food, helping attendees understand.
The Agricultural Special Committee also shared the main contents and future directions of the "National Comprehensive Food Strategy," a cross-ministerial comprehensive plan.
Song Bang-won, director of the Jeonju Agricultural Technology Center, said, "It is very meaningful that such a significant event was held in Jeonju, which is actively implementing the Food Plan, on the first anniversary of the Agricultural Special Committee's launch," adding, "It was a meaningful occasion to establish the roles and cooperation directions of national, metropolitan, and local governments for building a virtuous cycle food system."
