Mujugun Participates in Multilateral Agreement to Support Local Agricultural Product Sales Channels


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Go Dallyoung] Hwang Inhong, the mayor of Muju County, attended the 'Business Agreement Ceremony for Supporting Sales Channels and Promoting Consumption of Local Agricultural Products' held on the 27th at the Seoul City Hall video conference room in his capacity as the vice president of the National Association of Rural Area County Mayors (hereinafter referred to as the Association).


At the event, Park Wonsoon, mayor of Seoul, Hong Seongyeol, mayor of Jeungpyeong County, Chungbuk (chairman of the Association), Lee Sangho, CEO of 11st, Park Hongbae, chairman of the National Financial Industry Labor Union (hereinafter Financial Union), along with chairpersons from Uiseong, Gyeongbuk; Geochang, Gyeongnam; Jeongseon, Gangwon; and Damyang, Jeonnam counties, gathered to discuss cooperation and roles among institutions.


The agreement ceremony was conducted as a multilateral business agreement to support sales channels for local agricultural and marine products, where Seoul City, the online shopping mall 11st, and the Association pledged to cooperate in supporting sales channels through the online open market.


The National Financial Union, Seoul City, and the Association agreed to promote projects supporting sales channels for local agricultural products to assist farmers and regions and to revitalize the economy.


Additionally, Seoul City will support administrative cooperation among project participants and promotional activities targeting Seoul citizens; 11st will support store entry, sales commissions, marketing, and hold regular planned exhibitions.


The Financial Union will promote local agricultural products to its members (approximately 107,000 members across 26 branches including NongHyup Bank), and the Association will be responsible for demand surveys among participating local governments, product management, and logistics support (shipping costs).


Mayor Hwang Inhong of Muju County stated, “This was a solid opportunity to guarantee sales channels where residents of the 72 member counties of the National Association of Rural Area County Mayors can sell agricultural and marine products, made with sweat and sincerity, at fair prices.” He added, “With Seoul, home to about 9.72 million residents, the top online shopping mall 11st, and the Financial Union with over 100,000 active members, we expect significant roles in expanding sales and increasing income from local agricultural and marine products.”


Seoul City, 11st, the National Financial Industry Labor Union, and the National Association of Rural Area County Mayors agreed to maintain the terms of this agreement for one year and plan to continue the cooperative system based on mutual trust thereafter, raising great expectations for revitalizing the local economy.
