Seven Eleven Launches Cost-Effective Sparkling Water 'Our Sparkling'

[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Seven Eleven announced on the 27th that it will newly launch the affordable sparkling water "Our Sparkling," which emphasizes cost-effectiveness, as the number of consumers enjoying sparkling water like regular water in daily life increases.

Seven Eleven's "Our Sparkling" is a product name meaning "our sparkling water," featuring strong carbonation with a lemon scent, allowing for a refreshing and cool experience.

The selling price of "Our Sparkling" is 1,000 won, similar to regular bottled water (950 won for 500ml), and about 40% cheaper than existing sparkling water products. Seven Eleven expects "Our Sparkling" to lead the popularization of sparkling water due to its competitiveness in quality and price compared to existing sparkling waters, and anticipates that the influence of sparkling water in the convenience store bottled water market will further increase.

According to Seven Eleven, sparkling water sales this year (~5.26) increased by 8.9% compared to the previous year. Additionally, the proportion of sparkling water in total bottled water sales has risen from 15.1% in 2017 to 18.0% this year, showing a growing demand for sparkling water every year.

Recently, not only are more consumers replacing carbonated soft drinks with sparkling water for health and diet purposes, but the increase in people enjoying home drinking and homemade beverages using sparkling water is also analyzed as a major factor in its popularity.

Jiyeong Geun, MD (Merchandiser) in charge of the beverage and liquor team at Seven Eleven, said, "The sparkling water market is growing every year because it is healthy and highly versatile," adding, "This product boasts high cost-effectiveness above all, so it is expected to gain popularity mainly among young consumers."
