Shinsegae Food focused on the fact that home cafe enthusiasts, who enjoy beverages and desserts at home due to the COVID-19 pandemic, are seeking reasonably priced desserts amid weakened consumer sentiment. Accordingly, Shinsegae Food developed and introduced cost-effective dessert cakes that reduce price burden while offering generous portions to be enjoyed multiple times.
Shinsegae Food’s ‘Samgu Palgong Cake’ comes in two flavors: strawberry and chocolate. The ‘Samgu Palgong Strawberry Cake’ features a cake sheet with the fresh flavor of strawberries topped with white cream for softness and plenty of frozen strawberries as a topping. The ‘Samgu Palgong Chocolate Cake’ uses Belgian chocolate to create a rich taste and aroma on the chocolate sheet, enhanced with soft cream and cocoa powder for added sweetness. Both products are characterized by a size more than twice that of regular slice cakes (250g) and a reasonable price of 3,980 won, matching the product name ‘Samgu Palgong’.
A Shinsegae Food official said, “With the growth of home cafe enthusiasts, desserts with excellent cost-effectiveness are emerging as important products in the bakery industry,” adding, “We plan to continuously release desserts that cater to the tastes of home cafe enthusiasts.”
