[Asia Economy Reporter Yoonju Hwang] Global security company Hanwha Techwin is launching the world's first 8K ultra-high-resolution network camera, the ‘Wisenet TNB-9000’.
The newly released ‘TNB-9000’ features a 43.3mm full-frame CMOS sensor (a device that converts light entering through the lens into electrical signals), providing 8K (7680x4320) resolution and approximately 33 million pixels of clear images. Compared to 4K UHD cameras (3,840x2,160), known as 'high-definition CCTV,' the pixel count is arithmetically more than four times higher.
By launching the world's first 8K camera, Hanwha Techwin has taken a step ahead in the technological competition with overseas companies from Europe and North America, which have been leading the high-resolution CCTV market.
8K resolution is at a level where, if the camera is installed at the home base stands of a baseball stadium, it can identify not only the clothing but also the facial expressions of people sitting in the opposite outfield stands (about 150 meters away). When installed in urban areas, it is also possible to identify license plates of moving vehicles in real time at the same distance.
Additionally, using digital zoom, any area within the video can be enlarged while maintaining clarity, making it excellent for detailed monitoring of various stadiums, airports, and city surveillance.
Since one camera can monitor a wide area in high definition, it can be an efficient alternative in environments where operating multiple cameras is difficult due to structural or economic constraints.
To allow users to select optimized lenses according to various installation environments, it is designed in a mount form that can be combined with Canon EF lenses.
As a latest model camera, it is also equipped with advanced AI technology. Through AI algorithms, objects detected in the video are analyzed, and their characteristics (gender, clothing color, vehicle type, etc.) are searched to help users view desired scenes more easily and quickly. It also supports the ‘BestShot’ function, which captures and displays the optimal image for analyzing each object. This is useful as forensic data for incidents and accidents.
Meanwhile, Hanwha Techwin, the No.1 video security solution company in Korea, is growing into a global company through continuous investment based on its own video processing and optical technology competitiveness. It operates a comprehensive video security solution business including security cameras (CCTV), storage devices, and integrated management software.
