Yeosu City, Easily Find Usage Locations with 'Yeosu Gift Certificate Merchant App'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Yeosu City (Mayor Kwon Oh-bong) has officially launched the ‘Yeosu Gift Certificate Merchant App’ on the 18th to help consumers easily find places to use their emergency disaster relief funds and to revitalize local consumption, which has been stagnant due to COVID-19.

According to the city, the ‘Yeosu Gift Certificate Merchant’ app was developed to increase the income of small business owners struggling from the COVID-19 downturn and to inject some vitality into the local economy. So far, 2,300 people have installed and are using the app.

To install, search for ‘Yeosu Gift Certificate Merchant’ in your phone’s Play Store and download it.

Users can check affiliated merchants by industry within a radius of 1km, 3km, 5km, or 10km based on their current location. The app also includes merchant search functions, address information, and phone call connectivity.

Currently, there are about 5,000 Yeosu gift certificate affiliated merchants, and as new stores continue to register, the city regularly updates the merchant status on both the website and the app.

A city official stated, “The app launch helps citizens use their disaster relief funds more easily and conveniently and also aids in promoting consumption at affiliated merchants. We will do our best to provide practical support for revitalizing the local economy, which is facing difficulties.”

Meanwhile, since March, Yeosu City has been conducting a special 10% discount sale on Yeosu Love Gift Certificates to stimulate local consumption affected by COVID-19, surpassing the sales target of 8 billion KRW as of the 15th.

As of the 25th, the application status for government disaster relief funds in gift certificates is about 24,000 households, totaling approximately 15.3 billion KRW.
