Jeonnam Governor Kim Young-rok Ensures Flawless Administration with 'Resident-First' Policy

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeonnam Province, praised the efforts of staff who operated screening clinics, managed overseas entrants, and ran temporary testing facilities with measures stronger than those of the government in relation to COVID-19.

On the 26th, at the policy meeting with department heads, Governor Kim said, “COVID-19 measures have now become routine work, and there is a sufficient possibility that cluster infections concentrated in the metropolitan area could also occur in Jeonnam in the future,” adding, “Please thoroughly review the response scenarios to prepare for sudden cluster infections.”

He continued, “The government is presenting the Korean New Deal in line with the times, especially focusing on building digital infrastructure, digitalizing SOC, and Green New Deal projects,” and said, “Please make relentless efforts in policy development ahead of other provinces so that many projects related to Jeonnam’s core projects, the Clean Jeonnam Blue Economy 6 major projects, can be reflected in the Korean New Deal projects.”

He also emphasized, “Until now, all administrative power has been concentrated on attracting the synchrotron accelerator, but from now on, it has shifted to the original daily tasks,” adding, “Please ensure thorough promotion of active work so that projects such as the campaign to reduce traffic accidents, marine litter zero projects, Namdo Uibyung History Park, and Smart Blue City can now produce visible results.”

He encouraged, saying, “From the residents’ perspective, there are many small but detailed tasks,” and added, “It is necessary for all staff to carefully attend to even these invisible areas and provide resident-first administration that serves the people.”

Governor Kim said, “It is time for comprehensive and fundamental measures for the seaweed industry, including production, processing, and sales channels,” and requested, “Especially for export expansion, hygienic handling is essential, so please focus on this to foster the seaweed industry.”

Finally, he added, “The June regular meeting, settlement, and supplementary budget are underway,” and said, “When reviewing the settlement, carefully look back on the projects, and especially the second supplementary budget is historically significant as it exceeds 9 trillion won for the first time, so much effort is needed for COVID-19 related measures and livelihood stabilization measures.”
