Jangsu-gun, Senior University Entrance Ceremony "There Is No Age Limit for Learning"


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Go Dallyoung] The 37th Jangsu-gun Senior Citizens' University entrance ceremony was held on the 26th at the 2nd-floor conference room of the Social Welfare Center, attended by 120 people including Jang Young-su, the county governor, Kim Jong-moon, the chairman, Oh Jae-young, the branch manager, Hong Bong-gi, the head of the Senior Citizens' University, and the new students.


The entrance ceremony proceeded in the order of reading the senior citizens' pledge, greetings from the head of the Senior Citizens' University, explanation of the university operation policy, and curriculum overview.


The Senior Citizens' University is operated for seniors aged 65 and over to enhance the dignity of respected elders in the local community. It runs every Tuesday for 3 hours until November in the lecture rooms of the Social Welfare Center, offering about 20 programs including singing classes, health management, and liberal arts lectures.


Governor Jang Young-su said, “Although the opening was delayed from the original plan due to COVID-19, we ask for your cooperation in following preventive measures so that all new students can graduate healthily during their university life.” He added, “I hope that through the Senior Citizens' University, you will gain the joy and sense of accomplishment from learning and be able to spend a healthy and enjoyable old age.”
