[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] The Imsil Junior Chamber (President Kim Taeho) visited the home of 85-year-old grandmother Song Mo, who has been living alone for 40 years in Jiam Village, Seongsu-ri, Seongsu-myeon, and donated their talents for house repairs.

This talent donation was part of a residential environment improvement volunteer project, carried out over a week starting from the 18th with eight members participating in the volunteer activities.

Grandmother Song Mo was struggling to make a living in a 60-year-old earthen house without a flush toilet or kitchen.

The Imsil Junior Chamber members raised funds themselves, and with the talent donation of the eight members, along with support from the County Resident Welfare Division’s Hope Welfare Support Team, the Social Welfare Council’s Good Neighbors, and the Senior Comprehensive Welfare Center, various organizations joined forces to install an indoor toilet, kitchen sink, and bathroom through volunteer work.

The child of the helped elder Song Mo expressed gratitude, saying, “Due to financial difficulties, we could not even think about house repairs, but we are very thankful to everyone who helped in many ways. Now, my mother can wash with warm water even in winter and use the bathroom at night, so we can feel at ease.”

President Kim Taeho said, “It was a rewarding and meaningful time to help a lonely elderly person in a difficult situation. We will continue to make efforts and work hard for the local community and marginalized neighbors, even if our contributions are small.”
