[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in South Korea increased by 19 on the 26th.


The Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) announced that as of midnight on that day, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases was 11,225, an increase of 19 from midnight the previous day.


The number of new confirmed cases recorded in the 30s on the 10th and 11th following the cluster infection originating from Itaewon clubs, then decreased to the 20s from the 12th to the 15th, and further declined to the 10s from the 16th to the 19th. However, it rose again to the 30s on the 20th, dropped to the 10s on the 21st, climbed back to the 20s from the 22nd to the 24th, and then returned to the 10s on the day before and on the 26th.


Of the new cases, 16 were domestic transmissions and 3 were imported. The domestic cases were distributed as follows: Seoul 8, Incheon 3, Gyeonggi 2, Daegu 1, Chungbuk 1, and Gyeongbuk 1. Among the imported cases, 1 was in Seoul and 2 were identified through airport quarantine.


The number of patients who have been declared recovered and released from isolation reached 10,275, an increase of 49 from the previous day. The death toll rose by 2 to 269.
