Jin Air to Resume 5 International Routes in June... Profitability Up with Medium and Large Aircraft Deployment

[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Jin Air announced on the 26th that it will resume operations on five international routes, which had been suspended due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), starting in June.

The routes Jin Air plans to resume next month are Incheon~Bangkok, Hanoi, Taipei, Narita, and Osaka. Jin Air explained, "The decision was made considering local demand such as overseas residents, international students, business travelers, and air cargo volume."

Accordingly, Jin Air will initially deploy the B777-200ER on the Incheon~Bangkok and Taipei routes, scheduled to start on the 2nd and 4th of next month respectively, to secure demand. The B777-200ER is a mid-to-large aircraft and is the largest among the aircraft currently operated by domestic low-cost carriers (LCCs). Jin Air plans to maximize profitability by responding to air cargo demand and securing local passenger demand through this.

The Incheon~Narita (Tokyo) and Osaka routes are scheduled to operate once a week starting from the 5th of next month. In the case of Vietnam, as the COVID-19 situation stabilizes, flights will operate once a week starting from the 6th.

Tickets for the resumed Jin Air international flights can be booked through the website, application, and web. However, some routes only allow reservations for flights departing from the local area. Additionally, if there are changes to the flight schedule due to the COVID-19 situation, no refund or itinerary change fees will be charged.

Jin Air stated, "We will continue to review the market situation for each route and decide on additional resumption of operations."
