Chonnam National University Hospital Launches Campaign to Foster a Joyful Workplace Culture

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam National University Hospital (Director Lee Sam-yong) has launched a ‘Respect Culture Campaign’ to create a pleasant workplace culture.

According to Jeonnam National University Hospital on the 26th, this campaign, hosted by the Nursing Department (Head Shin Eun-sook), was organized to foster a culture of consideration and respect through the use of honorific language among employees for smooth communication, and further to cultivate a clean and enjoyable hospital work environment.

In particular, it was promoted to relieve the accumulated fatigue and stress from the daily high-tension work during the emergency situation to prevent and control the spread of COVID-19, to comfort each other, and to inject new vitality.

The Nursing Department held a Respect Culture Proclamation Ceremony on the 19th at Baeknyeon Hall in Hospital Building 6, and then conducted promotional activities for the use of honorific language while touring outpatient and ward areas.

At the proclamation ceremony, Director Lee Sam-yong, Head Shin Eun-sook, and other key hospital executives and nurses all wore masks and shouted the campaign slogan, “You who respect are the best! You who consider others are the best! Using honorific language is the beginning of respect!” pledging to practice a culture of respect.

Following this, hospital executives divided into five groups toured each ward and outpatient area to encourage medical staff and shouted the slogan together.

This campaign is promoted through three practical actions: ▲Using respectful language ▲Greeting first with a smiling face ▲Praising with a thankful heart.

‘Using respectful language’ includes mutual use of honorifics, protecting nurses’ self-esteem, using positive language, and using customer-respecting language.

Also, ‘Greeting first with a smiling face’ involves offering warm greetings such as “How can I help you?” and “Have a nice day.”

‘Praising with a thankful heart’ involves exchanging greetings like “Thank you, good job,” and “It’s thanks to you.”

Head of Nursing Department Shin Eun-sook said, “Let us strive to make the mindset and actions of doing our best as nurses a habit,” and added, “Through such efforts, let’s build a healthy and warm hospital that earns the trust and love of local residents.”

Director Lee Sam-yong stated, “I hope that through this proclamation ceremony, the culture of respect spreads within the hospital, fostering consideration and respect among members and harmony between departments to establish a sound organizational culture,” and added, “If this campaign is implemented, it is expected to contribute to improving the satisfaction of patients and visitors.”
