Ministry of Culture and Copyright Commission Hold National Creative Works Treasure Hunt Sharing Exhibition

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Copyright Commission announced on the 26th that they will hold the '2020 National Public Domain Treasure Hunt Sharing Exhibition' until October 22 to discover highly usable shared works and promote a culture of sharing copyrighted materials.

The contest is held in five categories: ▲background music ▲illustration ▲photography ▲drone footage ▲handwriting, each with a different theme. The background music category's theme is 'Seasons of Korea,' the illustration category is 'White Ox' symbolizing the Year of the Ox 2021, the photography category commemorates the 70th anniversary of the Korean War with themes of 'Korean War, Inter-Korean Relations, Saemaul Undong, 1988 Olympics,' the drone footage category is themed 'Nature of Korea,' and the handwriting category requires participants to submit handwritten entries based on a given sample text.

Any Korean citizen can participate in the contest by selecting their preferred Creative Commons License (CCL) conditions for their work and submitting it through the Copyright Commission's Sharing Madang website. The handwriting category is targeted at elementary, middle, and high school teachers and has an earlier deadline of June 22 to produce winning entries as font files.

After judging, a total of 32 works will be selected as winners. These works will be announced on the Commission's Sharing Madang website in November and will be provided to the public through the Commission's Sharing Madang information recommendation (curation) service. Detailed information can be found on the Sharing Madang website.
