Seodaemun-gu Holds Public Hearing on 'Cheonyeon-dong and Chunghyeon-dong Urban Regeneration Activation Plan Amendment'

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Moon Seok-jin) will hold a public hearing for the establishment of the 'Cheonyeon-dong and Chunghyeon-dong Area Urban Regeneration Activation Plan Amendment' on June 3rd at 7 PM in the multipurpose room on the 3rd floor of the Chunghyeon-dong Community Center (40 Gyeonggi-daero).

This public hearing is held to share related information, gather opinions from residents and experts, establish the plan, and reflect matters according to the Seoul Metropolitan Government's urban regeneration strategy plan amendment.

The main contents of the amendment include adjustments to the urban planning facility area for the 'Independence Gate Cultural Park remodeling and parking lot installation' and the inclusion of some omitted parcels adjacent to Doknipmun-ro 12ga-gil.

The district office plans to check the number of attendees and, if the appropriate scale for 'social distancing in daily life' is exceeded, will prepare an additional space and conduct video broadcasting.

Accordingly, those wishing to attend the public hearing must apply to the Seodaemun-gu Office Urban Regeneration Division by the 29th of this month.

If there are any opinions or suggestions regarding the amendment, attendees can express their views at the public hearing or fill out an opinion form provided at the entrance of the hearing venue on the day.

Later, the opinion form can be downloaded from the 'Notices and Announcements' section on the Seodaemun-gu website, filled out, and submitted in person to the Seodaemun-gu Office Urban Regeneration Division (286 Yeonhui-ro, 2nd floor) or via email (keepmien@sdm.go.kr) from June 3rd to 10th.

Seodaemun-gu plans to supplement the amendment based on the opinions collected through the public hearing and reflect it in the promotion of the corresponding urban regeneration activation project.

Mayor Moon Seok-jin of Seodaemun-gu stated, "We will do our best to complete the projects under the Cheonyeon-dong and Chunghyeon-dong area urban regeneration activation plan within the scheduled period so that residents can feel the changes."

This plan, targeting an area of 291,780㎡ in Cheonyeon-dong and Chunghyeon-dong, has been promoted over four years from 2019 to 2022 with the aim of improving the aging residential environment and revitalizing alleyway commercial districts.

The district aims to create this area as an 'urban living space with everyday happiness and fun' through the maintenance of old houses, improvement of alley environments, and expansion of living SOC (Social Overhead Capital).
