'Shinhan Card YaY (Yei)' Launch
100% Untact Digital Throughout the Entire Service Process
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] Shinhan Card announced on the 26th that it has launched the mobile-only card 'Shinhan Card YaY' (hereinafter referred to as YaY Card), optimized for the home economy and untact consumption market in preparation for the post-COVID-19 era.
The YaY Card is a 100% digital product where the entire process from card issuance application to usage is conducted non-face-to-face. After applying, the card is immediately sent to the mobile device and can be registered and used on Shinhan PayFAN in less than 30 minutes.
This card was designed from the product service planning stage to reflect the untact consumption trend, shifting from a face-to-face consumption-centered economy to a non-face-to-face consumption-centered economy, offering benefits specialized for homebodies and home economy commercial districts.
First, it introduced an industry-first service linking different sectors. The 'Mariage' service provides additional benefits when using real-time online video (OTT) services and food delivery services together. When using OTT services such as Netflix, YouTube Premium, Watcha Play, and food delivery services like Baedal Minjok, Yogiyo, CJ Cookkit, and HiFresh, 30% and 15% of the usage amount are accumulated respectively, but if both sectors are used in the same month, an additional 15% is accumulated in the food delivery sector (total 30%).
For online shopping benefits essential to homebodies, the concept of delivery fee support was adopted. When spending over 50,000 KRW per transaction at major online shopping malls such as LotteON, SSG.com, Gmarket, 11st, Coupang, and food-specialized online malls like Market Kurly and Oasis Market, 2,500 points are accumulated per transaction (up to 5 times per month).
Leisure activities also include trendy services popular among homebodies who enjoy them at home. Customers looking for hobbies to enjoy at home through app stores, games, and the Lego online store receive 10% points accumulation per merchant based on the usage amount, under the home game room concept.
Under the home interior (home + interior) concept, customers who solve laundry with 'Laundriego' and purchase furniture and interior items from 'Today's House' can each receive a 10% accumulation benefit.
Customers who enjoy drinking alone at home can also receive a 10% accumulation benefit at 'Wine & More' and 'Starbucks Siren Order,' which allows non-face-to-face beverage orders.
Each benefit is provided when the previous month's usage amount is 500,000 KRW or more. The annual fee for the YaY Card is 23,000 KRW for domestic use only and 26,000 KRW for international use (Visa).
Taking advantage of the 100% digital card feature, the YaY Card also introduced a moving card plate. Unlike the static existing card plates, it contains a Minions 'umjjal' (short animation similar to a GIF file).
A Shinhan Card official said, "The YaY Card is a product designed considering the lifestyle change where many consumption activities are done at home and the recent increase in untact consumption due to the impact of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), incorporating the fun of homebound consumption and Minions umjjal."
