POSCO Energy Launches 'Good Mask Campaign' for Pediatric Cancer Patients

[Asia Economy Reporter So-yeon Park] POSCO Energy employees have joined forces to collect masks for children with cancer and their families.

From May 11 to 25, POSCO Energy conducted the "Good Mask Campaign" in its workplaces located in Seoul, Incheon, and Gwangyang, collecting 1,000 masks to be delivered to children with cancer and their families.

The "Good Mask Campaign" started from an employee's idea. This employee attended a ceremony in April at the Korea Leukemia Children's Foundation where treatment funds for children with cancer were delivered. There, they learned that children undergoing chemotherapy have weakened immune systems and must always wear masks in daily life, but are facing difficulties purchasing masks due to the spread of COVID-19. In response, the employee and colleagues initiated the "Good Mask Campaign," encouraging everyone to donate one mask each to help neighbors in greater need.

The Energy Council, the representative body of POSCO Energy employees, also supported this warm-hearted donation effort. They actively promoted the mask collection for children with cancer throughout the company to expand participation and encourage employees to join.

The collected 1,000 masks will be donated to the Korea Leukemia Children's Foundation in the name of POSCO Energy employees. The foundation plans to distribute the masks to children with cancer and their families who apply for them.

Hwang Seok-hyun, chairman of the POSCO Energy Energy Council, said, "I hope that the masks collected one by one with the warm hearts of our employees will become encouragement and strength for children with cancer and their families."

POSCO Energy has been steadily practicing its management philosophy of being a corporate citizen that grows together with society. Since 2014, it has supported treatment costs for children with cancer through the Korea Leukemia Children's Foundation for seven years, donating approximately 210 million KRW so far, benefiting a total of 19 children.
