[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) is recruiting 74 participants for the ‘2020 Summer Vacation University Student Administrative Intern’ program until June 1.
Songpa-gu operates administrative internships twice a year, in summer and winter, to allow university students to experience practical administrative work during their vacations.
The administrative interns will be assigned to facilities such as the district office, public health center, community service centers, libraries, and welfare centers, where they will perform administrative support tasks throughout July.
Applicants must be registered residents of Songpa-gu as of the announcement date (May 18, 2020), or be enrolled or on leave from universities located in Songpa-gu. However, students from remote universities, computer institutes, lifelong education centers, and those who worked as administrative interns during last winter vacation are excluded.
Among the 74 recruits, 18 (25%) will be given priority selection from groups including △basic livelihood security recipients △legally designated low-income groups △registered disabled persons △North Korean defectors △families with three or more children △national merit recipients and their children. Additionally, 4 (5%) will be selected from university students within the district.
The work period is 21 days from July 2 to July 30, with a five-day workweek from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The work allowance is based on the ‘2020 Songpa-gu living wage,’ paying 51,530 KRW per day and 1,280,000 KRW for full attendance.
Furthermore, opportunities will be provided to better understand Songpa-gu and participate in district administration through tours of major local facilities and educational programs. Notably, after group project presentations monitoring key district projects and suggesting improvements, outstanding teams will receive commendations from the mayor.
With reduced part-time job opportunities due to COVID-19, this program is expected to help university students develop economic independence and gain social experience.
Applications for this university student administrative internship can be submitted on the Songpa-gu website until June 1. Final selection will be made by a public computerized lottery at 2 p.m. on June 2, and the results will be posted on the district website at 5 p.m. the same day.
For more details, please refer to the district website or contact the Songpa-gu Autonomous Administration Division.
Mayor Park Seong-su of Songpa-gu stated, “I hope the administrative internship activities will broaden understanding of Songpa and serve as a good foundation for career planning. We will continue to provide various opportunities for students to develop their dreams and capabilities through participation in district administration.”
