Geumcheon-gu Dental Clinic Practices Neighborly Love Through Denture Talent Donation

Geumcheon-gu Dental Clinics 4 Locations and Geumcheon-gu Dental Technicians Association Donate Denture Treatment Skills... 70% Support for Treatment Costs for Low-Income Under 65-Year-Olds

Geumcheon-gu Dental Clinic Practices Neighborly Love Through Denture Talent Donation

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yuseong Hoon) is practicing warm neighborly love through talent donation for denture procedures for vulnerable residents by local dental clinics and the Dental Laboratory Association.

Currently, public support for denture procedures is available for those aged 65 and over, leaving vulnerable groups under 65 in a support blind spot.

Accordingly, four local dental clinics and the Geumcheon-gu Dental Laboratory Association have been providing talent donation for denture procedures to vulnerable groups under 65 excluded from public support since 2017.

The support process is carried out through referrals by village nurses at the community service centers. Village nurses provide home-visit health management services to vulnerable residents with health issues and seniors aged 65 and over in the area.

In this process, if there are low-income residents under 65 who are not included in public support for health insurance and medical benefits and require denture procedures, they are connected to participating clinics for talent donation.

70% of the procedure cost is supported, and 30% is self-paid.

Mr. A, a resident of Doksan-dong, was a beneficiary of denture support last year. Mr. A, who has suffered from spinal disease and diabetes, had several missing teeth and even the remaining teeth were loose.

Due to poor meal management, diabetes treatment was difficult, and he was unable to work because of back pain, making it impossible to afford denture costs. Through the village nurse at the community service center, Mr. A received denture support and expressed his gratitude, saying, "Thanks to this, my diabetes and depression have improved, and I am living and eating like a normal person."

Yuseong Hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, "I sincerely thank the local dental clinics and the Dental Laboratory Association participating in this warm-hearted talent donation," and added, "Together with the dental community practicing neighborly love, we will do our best to provide village health management services that meet the needs of low-income residents in the area."
