A Namyangju Hwado Uri Church Congregant Dies Four Days After Testing Positive for COVID-19

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province, announced on the 25th that A (76), a member of Hwadoururi Church who was diagnosed with COVID-19, has died.

A, who was diagnosed at Hanyang University Guri Hospital on the 20th, was later transferred to Seongnam Medical Center for treatment but passed away after four days.

A attended the Hwadoururi Church service held on the 13th and was found to have developed symptoms such as fever two days later. Even after symptoms appeared, A visited the church again on the 17th. However, the infection route of A has not been identified yet.

At Hwadoururi Church, three members including A and one pastor tested positive, and two additional contacts, the pastor’s husband and daughter, also tested positive. The pastor had visited Grace Church in Yangcheon, Seoul on the 15th, and a pastor from a religious facility in Uijeongbu who participated also tested positive on the 24th.

The church has seven members including the pastor, and the other three members did not attend the service. The church has been temporarily closed.
