Busan City to Solve Local Issues and Establish Platform for Academic Credit and Lifelong Education Exchange
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The 'Uni-Park' project, where multiple universities share credits and lifelong education curricula, is set to begin.
Busan City announced on the 25th that it will operate the 'Shared University Uni-Park' in collaboration with the Busan Talent Lifelong Education Promotion Institute to jointly respond to changes in the university environment such as the decline in school-age population and to strengthen win-win cooperation between the city and universities.
This project, being attempted for the first time this year, will establish dedicated spaces such as classrooms and offices within the Eurasia Platform at Busan Station to 'open' an academic store aimed at solving regional issues. Various projects to connect and develop universities and local communities, such as supporting Uni-Park club activities and operating the community activity group 'SAM,' will also be promoted.
The 'Academic Store' is a project that selects tasks based on research topics proposed by citizens and has specialized researchers such as graduate students and professors from local universities devise solutions.
The 'Uni-Park Club' supports activities related to Busan's seven strategic industries and is composed of joint clubs formed by two or more universities or departments.
The 'Community Activity Group (SAM)' is a project where university students directly participate in solving local problems. Additionally, using Uni-Park, special lectures on the 4th Industrial Revolution to strengthen local talent capabilities and support for various events of local universities will be conducted. It will become a 'regional joint education platform' where the city, universities, and local community join forces.
A Busan City official stated, "As a global university city, universities will become key agents of regional development and innovation, seeking various local issue projects," and added, "Starting with this year's 'Shared University Uni-Park' project, we will expand the scope of activities to include credit exchange between universities and lifelong education for the general public."
