Inha University 60th Anniversary Hall, where the Graduate School of Public Health will be established [Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Inha University is establishing a Graduate School of Public Health to train healthcare professionals in response to the 'post-COVID-19' era.
Inha University announced on the 25th that the Graduate School of Public Health, led by experts in public healthcare, biohealth, environmental health, and healthcare fields, will open this September. Applications for new students will be accepted from the 27th of this month until the 19th of next month.
The Graduate School of Public Health focuses on training experts who can quickly respond to changes in future health environments and the healthcare industry in the post-COVID-19 era. The program targets healthcare professionals such as doctors and nurses, workers in bio, health, and environmental fields, social workers, and related professionals active in the field, offering practical academic courses that can be immediately applied.
The school plans to actively utilize the regional public healthcare network, including the Incheon Smoking Cessation Support Center, Regional Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease Center, Integrated Health Promotion Project Support Group, and Community Health Survey, all operated by the College of Medicine. It will also share operational know-how from the Inha University Hospital Environmental Health Center, the Gastrointestinal Disease T2B (Technology to Business) Infrastructure Center, and the Inha University Regenerative Medicine Strategy Research Institute.
Additionally, the program will offer various courses by integrating with other majors such as the College of Business Administration, College of Engineering, and Law School. It will differentiate itself from other graduate schools through industry-academia cooperation with the bio-cluster in Songdo International City and field training education programs.
The majors are subdivided into four fields: 'Community Care,' which deals with health policy; 'Biohealth Convergence'; 'Environmental Conservation'; and 'I-Healthcare.'
The Community Care major covers customized community care based on local communities, which has recently gained attention, and public healthcare policies for local communities that have become even more important after COVID-19.
The Biohealth Convergence major educates on healthcare technologies, medical services, medical law, and medical policies combined with advanced biopharmaceuticals, artificial intelligence, big data, and other information and communication technologies.
The Environmental Health major trains professionals who understand the increasingly severe environmental pollution and resulting environmental diseases and develop environmental health policies for prevention and management.
The I-Healthcare (Intelligent Healthcare) major aims to train local health professionals by integrating Health IT (healthcare information technology). It adds information technology to existing fields such as medical informatics, nursing informatics, consumer informatics, and health informatics to create new service models centered on medical consumers.
Park Sora, Dean of the College of Medicine at Inha University, stated, "In the post-COVID-19 era, communication convergence technology, precision medicine, and public healthcare are emerging, and care for socially vulnerable groups such as the elderly, disabled, and children is also an important issue. The Graduate School of Public Health will train competitive experts suited to the times, helping them build networks in the community health and welfare sectors to lead the future."
