Guidelines for 7 Personal Data Protection Practices in Daily Life
[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] Naver announced that it will participate in the '2020 Personal Information Protection Awareness Week' campaign, which runs from May 25 to June 24.
This campaign is held annually by the Personal Information Protection Commission and APPA, a consortium of personal information protection organizations in the Asia-Pacific region, to raise awareness about the importance of personal information protection. This year, under the theme "Protect my personal information thoroughly! Lock others' personal information carefully!", seven personal information protection lifestyle practice rules have been established and will be promoted.
Starting today, Naver will provide guidance on the seven personal information protection lifestyle practice rules that citizens and companies should follow through the official Naver Personal Information Protection blog and the official Naver Personal Information Protection Facebook page.
As part of the campaign, on Wednesday, June 17 at 11 a.m., Naver Privacy TV will hold an online live education session on the topic of the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). The CCPA is known as another global-level personal information protection legislation following the GDPR, which came into effect in January this year and is set for full enforcement in July.
Naver will share information related to the CCPA to assist startups and domestic internet companies facing difficulties due to a lack of CCPA-related materials or information before expanding services to the United States. Jin-gyu Lee, Naver's Chief Privacy Officer (CPO·DPO), stated, "This year, through collaboration with external organizations such as the Personal Information Protection Commission and the Korea Internet & Security Agency, we will strive to raise awareness of the importance of personal information protection among more citizens."
