Healthcare Platform 'Gangdong-gu Medical Tourism Center' Website Launch

Multilingual Support, Responsive Web, Convenience Service Integration... Capturing Both Medical Services and Tourism

Healthcare Platform 'Gangdong-gu Medical Tourism Center' Website Launch

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) has opened the "Gangdong-gu Medical Tourism Center," an online gateway for medical tourism that will serve as a healthcare platform.

Gangdong-gu has focused on the potential of the "medical tourism" industry as a new growth engine to address economic and employment issues. Following the establishment of a dedicated team last year, the district has officially launched its medical tourism business through institutional improvements such as research projects for revitalizing medical tourism and the enactment of ordinances.

The construction of the Medical Tourism Center website is one such achievement, providing integrated information on local medical institutions, specialized services, and tourism information so that tourists can conveniently receive medical services and enjoy local tourism.

To enhance user convenience and accessibility, the site supports multiple languages including English, Chinese, and Russian, and offers an optimized interface and services for various digital devices such as PCs, tablets, and smartphones through a responsive web design.

At the same time, the center provides integrated convenience services for foreign users through two-way linkage with major medical tourism sites such as the Korea Health Industry Development Institute’s Medical Korea, Seoul City’s Medical Tourism website, and connections to key services like immigration procedures and interpretation.

Furthermore, the district is striving to develop various programs aligned with the global trend in medical tourism known as "wellness" (a compound of well-being and happiness, fitness, referring to physical, mental, and social health).

By linking with eco-friendly urban agriculture, it plans to offer diverse healing experiences and encourage long-term stays through the expansion of infrastructure such as accommodations and restaurants.

Additionally, a project to train medical tourism professionals targeting multinational marriage immigrants, naturalized citizens, and international students is also underway.

Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, stated, "Gangdong-gu has the competitiveness to faithfully serve as a 'stepping stone' by leveraging geographical and environmental strengths such as the demand from the three Gangnam districts, population growth trends, and abundant ecological resources. We will strive to make Gangdong-gu a medical tourism mecca and a health capital by creating a differentiated medical tourism ecosystem."
