[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] A female pastor in her 50s from Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi-do, who was confirmed as a COVID-19 case, was found to have conducted missionary activities in Sangju-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do the day before her positive diagnosis, raising alarms among health authorities.
According to health authorities on the 25th, Pastor Han Mo (52, female) from Ganeung-dong, Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi-do, arrived at the Intercop Mission Center located in Sangyong-ri, Hwaseo-myeon, Sangju-si, around 3:30 PM on the 22nd, riding in a car with three companions.
This mission center, which conducts interdenominational evangelical missionary activities, is mainly known for missionary training and education for youth and prospective believers. Approximately 60 people were present at the center at that time.
After the missionary activities, Pastor Han had dinner around 7 PM in a meeting room with six companions (including one Sangju center official), then returned to Uijeongbu and was diagnosed positive the following day, the 23rd.
The diagnostic test was conducted as a measure by health authorities after identifying that Pastor Han had contact with a pastor from Hwado Uri Church in Namyangju who was confirmed positive two days earlier. The investigation revealed that Pastor Han had already been experiencing flu-like symptoms since the 20th, prior to her missionary activities in Sangju.
Meanwhile, at Hwado Uri Church in Namyangju, starting from the 20th, three believers including one pastor who had visited Eunhye Church in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul on the 15th, were consecutively confirmed positive for COVID-19. Additionally, two contacts, the pastor’s husband and daughter, were also confirmed positive.
