Korea's Premier Marine Leisure Exhibition 'Gyeonggi International Boat Show' Opens on the 5th of Next Month

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The '2020 Gyeonggi International Boat Show' (KIBS 2020), a representative exhibition of South Korea's marine leisure industry, will be held from the 5th to the 7th of next month at KINTEX in Ilsan, Goyang, and Aramarina in Gimpo.

The Gyeonggi International Boat Show was originally scheduled for March but was postponed due to COVID-19. Gyeonggi Province will hold the event as a 'quarantine-safe exhibition' with significantly strengthened quarantine measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The province ultimately decided to hold the Gyeonggi International Boat Show, recognizing the need for a sales channel to revitalize the economy.

However, the province will apply enhanced quarantine measures suitable for the exhibition situation, including limiting the total number of simultaneous visitors considering a 2-meter social distancing rule inside the exhibition hall, entry only for visitors with verified real names, triple fever checks, and consulting with the Gyeonggi Infectious Disease Management Support Group, including the quarantine standards of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters.

Additionally, to share the pain of the industry struggling due to COVID-19, the province has decided to waive participation fees for this year only.

The province will also hold a non-face-to-face exhibition for visitors who cannot attend in person due to circumstances.

The opening ceremony and export consultation meetings to support export-focused participating companies will also be conducted online.

Kim Choong-beom, Director of the Agricultural and Marine Affairs Bureau of the province, said, "We have given much thought to holding the boat show amid the difficult situation of COVID-19," adding, "Since the economy is also important, if both participating companies and visitors cooperate to the fullest in quarantine, we expect to catch both the two rabbits of quarantine and economy."

Pre-registration for visiting the boat show is available on the official website (www.kibs.com). Visitors must have no fever, provide real-name verification information, wear masks, and agree to comply with the exhibition's quarantine standards. Also, depending on the visitor situation, on-site entry may be delayed. For more details, please contact the secretariat at 1670-8785.
