[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Saeng-hye] Dongwon F&B's pet food brand Nutri Plan announced on the 25th that it has launched three types of 'Nutri Plan Moist Roo Main Meals' and entered the wet food market for companion dogs.
The new products were designed according to AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials) standards. AAFCO is an organization that provides guidelines on labeling, raw materials, and nutritional content for pet food, and is recognized for its credibility to the extent that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) refers to its guidelines. The guidelines for wet main meals for companion dogs set by AAFCO are so stringent that they cover more than 40 items. Products that meet these standards are considered perfectly balanced main meals, meaning they are suitable for daily feeding as a staple diet.
Creating products that meet AAFCO standards requires meticulous research and development, repeated testing, and significant time and cost. After more than a year of preparation, Dongwon F&B introduced the first domestic wet main meal for companion cats perfectly meeting AAFCO standards last year, and this year, they have consecutively launched wet main meals for companion dogs.
The three types of Nutri Plan Moist Roo Main Meals are wet pet foods made with pork liver and chicken as the main ingredients, produced to 'human grade' standards suitable for human consumption. The pork liver is sourced exclusively from high-quality cuts managed directly by Geumcheon Meat, a Dongwon Group affiliate, and is rich in vitamin A, which can help with eye health in dogs, such as reducing tear stains.
The products are released in three types according to age groups: Puppy (under 1 year), Adult (over 1 year), and Senior (over 7 years), with different raw material compositions and contents. Each type includes beneficial ingredients for the respective age group, such as tuna, L-theanine, and red ginseng as supplementary ingredients. Dongwon F&B also added its own developed 'Dongwon Vitamin Mineral Mix' to increase mineral nutritional content.
Dongwon F&B manufactures the products directly at its own production plant equipped with state-of-the-art pet food dedicated facilities, ensuring greater reliability. Having exported to advanced pet food countries since 1992, it possesses proven manufacturing technology and know-how. In particular, Dongwon F&B integrates various raw materials such as tuna, red ginseng, and dairy products?its main product lines?to offer pet food, and through this, it has been recognized for quality by being selected as the 'KMAC Korea Industry Brand Power Pet Food Division No. 1' for two consecutive years, including last year.
The price of each 80g Nutri Plan Moist Roo Main Meal is 1,800 KRW and can be purchased at pet specialty stores, online malls, and discount stores.
