[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] A large fire broke out on the 23rd (local time) at Fisherman's Wharf, a famous tourist spot in San Francisco, USA, causing some facilities to be destroyed.

According to local US media such as CNBC, the fire started at around 4:17 a.m. at a warehouse on Pier 45 within Fisherman's Wharf. More than 125 firefighters were dispatched to extinguish the fire, and fireboats were also positioned around the pier.

The fire department classified the fire as a level 4 fire, which typically requires the dispatch of four fire stations.

The San Francisco Fire Department announced that one-quarter of Pier 45 was destroyed by the fire. Two buildings on the southern side of the pier were also partially collapsed.

However, no casualties have been reported so far. All people at the pier have been evacuated.

The warship "SS Jeremiah O'Brien," built during World War II and participated in the Normandy landings, was docked next to the pier but fortunately escaped the fire.

Jonathan Baxter, spokesperson for the San Francisco Fire Department, explained the situation on site, saying, "When firefighters arrived, the flames were engulfing the ship."

The warehouse where the fire broke out houses a large processing facility and offices for Northern California crab processing. Investigators are currently examining the exact cause of the fire.
