[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] A woman in her 40s and her son who visited a restaurant in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, where more than 10 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases were recently confirmed, have tested positive for COVID-19.
On the 23rd, Bupyeong-gu, Incheon City, announced that A (43, female), a resident of Sangok-dong, and her son B (17) tested positive for COVID-19. They visited the 'Raon Party' buffet restaurant in Bucheon on the 9th to attend a first birthday party of an acquaintance's family.
It was confirmed that A stayed at the buffet from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM on the same day together with taxi driver C (49), who was confirmed positive. C is known to work as a taxi driver on weekdays and as a freelance photographer taking photos at first birthday parties on weekends.
C was infected after visiting a coin karaoke room in Vision Plaza, Incheon, with his son. The coin karaoke room was visited by a student who was infected by D (25), an academy instructor in Incheon.
A is considered a 4th generation infected person, starting from the academy instructor, then to the student (coin karaoke room), and the taxi driver (photographer), and B, who had contact with A, is presumed to be a 5th generation infected person.
D, a student at a university in Incheon, caused controversy by lying about some of their occupation and movement during the initial epidemiological investigation after testing positive for COVID-19 on the 9th.
The quarantine authorities urgently transferred A and B to a hospital and are conducting an in-depth epidemiological investigation to identify additional movements and contacts. With A and others testing positive for COVID-19 on this day, the total number of confirmed cases related to academy instructor D has risen to 46.
