[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Dong-wook] Pohang City, Gyeongsangbuk-do announced on the 23rd that it has been selected for the regional innovation project contest, part of the regional and industry-customized job creation support project promoted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, and will officially launch the "Future New Industry (Battery) Talent Training Course Education and Training Project."
This project, conducted through a consortium with the Pohang Technopark Foundation, is a comprehensive job support project utilizing various human and material resources in the region, and it is the first time a basic local government in Gyeongbuk Province has been selected.
The education and training are divided into theory (basic chemistry, basic electrochemistry, production innovation, mechanical maintenance, etc.) and practice (hydraulics and pneumatics, equipment diagnosis, measurement, electrical facilities, computer work, etc.) courses. According to Technopark, the content was developed in consultation with battery companies that have entered or are scheduled to enter Pohang City so that it can be immediately applied on-site upon employment.
Participants will receive benefits such as preferential treatment when applying for jobs at secondary battery-related companies in the industrial complex, free tuition, training allowances, provision of work uniforms and textbooks, and support for certification exam fees. The number of selected participants is 30. Those interested can apply through the Pohang Technopark website by the 27th. The training period is a total of 60 days (360 hours) from June 22 to September 11.
A Pohang City official stated, "The battery industry is a promising industry comparable to semiconductors, so much so that it is called the rice of the future," adding, "Following last year's designation as a next-generation battery special zone, we will do our best to nurture talent and create jobs so that manpower can be supplied timely and appropriately in response to the predicted increase in battery workforce demand."
