The Wife of a COVID-19 Confirmed Firefighter in Gimpo is a Nurse... Health Authorities on Alert

[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kang Joo-hee] A firefighter belonging to the Bucheon Fire Station, residing in Janggi-dong, Gimpo-si, Gyeonggi-do, has been confirmed positive for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), and it has been confirmed that his wife is a nurse working at a hospital in Gimpo.

On the 22nd, quarantine authorities announced that the firefighter Mr. A (36), his wife Ms. B (39), and their son Mr. C (5) have undergone COVID-19 testing and are awaiting results. The authorities are intensively identifying people who have had contact with Ms. B.

The fire department confirmed that Mr. A had contact with a total of 60 people, who are currently being tested. Additionally, 55 firefighters belonging to the Bucheon Fire Station are also undergoing COVID-19 testing.

It was confirmed that Mr. A worked as a paramedic driver at the Shinsang 119 Safety Center of the Bucheon Fire Station in Gyeonggi-do. The Bucheon Fire Station stated that Mr. A transported a total of 19 patients over three days from the 19th to the 21st.

Seven colleagues who worked with Mr. A are currently in self-quarantine, and a total of 21 people work at the safety center, all of whom are confirmed to be quarantined at the center.

Mr. A showed COVID-19 symptoms such as chills and fever on the 21st and was tested at the screening clinic of Gimpo Woori Hospital, where he was confirmed positive.
