[Asia Economy Reporter Park So-yeon] The expected salary levels of job seekers challenging their first job have slightly decreased compared to the survey conducted at the end of last year.
It is analyzed that this is due to lowering their expectations amid the employment downturn caused by the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and other factors.
JobKorea announced on the 22nd that, according to a survey of 1,917 job seekers preparing for entry-level employment this year, the average "desired salary level upon employment" was 29.7 million KRW.
This is 2.6% lower than the average of 30.5 million KRW recorded in the same survey last December.
Even when categorized by final education level, all groups showed a decrease compared to the end of last year.
The desired salary for four-year university graduates was an average of 31 million KRW, 3.1% lower than last year's 32 million KRW; for junior college graduates, it was 27.7 million KRW, down 5.1%; and for high school graduates, it was 27.4 million KRW, 8.4% lower, respectively.
By gender, the desired salary for male four-year university graduates was 32.4 million KRW on average, 8.4% higher than females (29.9 million KRW), indicating that males hoped for higher salaries than females.
