[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] After the government’s emergency disaster relief fund distribution, on-site payments for delivery food orders have increased, while prepayments have decreased.
On the 22nd, delivery agency Barogo announced the analysis results of customer payment methods for delivery orders during the weekends from the first to the second week of May, revealing this trend. On May 16 and 17, the first weekend after the emergency disaster relief fund distribution, the proportion of on-site payment orders increased by 7.9 percentage points compared to the weekend before the distribution. Among on-site payment methods, the share of ‘card payments’ also rose by 7 percentage points during the same period.
A Barogo official explained, "Some stores have difficulty accepting the government’s emergency disaster relief fund when customers prepay through delivery intermediary apps, which seems to have led to an increase in the proportion of on-site payments."
