Gangdong-gu Seongnae Library Undergoes Remodeling for Over 5 Months

Seongnae Library's Two Buildings Connected by a Sky Bridge (Gaon-gil) to Create a Cultural Space for Residents... Seongnae Library Main Building Floors 1-3 Utilized as a Children's Book Space

Gangdong-gu Seongnae Library Undergoes Remodeling for Over 5 Months Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, is touring the newly established Gangdong-gu Seongnae Library.

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Seongnae Library in Gangdong-gu (District Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) returned to the residents on the 14th after about five months of remodeling and new construction.

Seongnae Library, operated by Gangdong Cultural Foundation (CEO Lee Je-hoon) and managed by Gangdong-gu, was originally opened in 2007. After 13 years, the aging building has been reborn in a more expanded and renewed form through this remodeling project and the construction of a new annex building.

The existing main building of Seongnae Library replaced the outdated heating and cooling systems and CCTV to provide residents with a comfortable and safe reading environment, and completed interior renovations and parking lot floor work.

The first to third floors of the main building are dedicated to children's book spaces. The previously cramped infant and children's reading rooms were expanded to cover the entire building, creating a reading environment where children can freely spread their wings of imagination.

In particular, the first-floor reading room, ‘Picture Book Asteroid B410,’ is designed to feel like a book caf? with picture books.

The annex of Seongnae Library was newly built on the 3rd to 5th floors of the Angel Workshop Herb Center building next to the main building. The annex is a space for adults and teenagers, offering a rich collection of books and a comfortable place to relax. The two buildings are connected by a bridge called ‘Gaon-gil,’ and both the main building and annex are designed as open spaces, emphasizing convenient movement and maximum spatial expansion.

Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, said, “I thank the residents who waited for the reopening of the library during its closure,” and added, “I hope the newly transformed Seongnae Library will become a cultural exchange hub for the residents.”

To commemorate the reopening, Seongnae Library is holding events such as lifting the suspension of borrowing privileges for overdue users until the end of this month.
