Gyeongbuk Governor Lee Cheol-woo Attends Global Catalyst Filter Factory: "A Model for Overcoming COVID-19"

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongwook Park] Gyeongsangbuk-do announced on the 21st that Nano Co., Ltd., the nation's No. 1 manufacturer of denitrification catalyst filters for removing fine dust located in Sangju City, has developed a stacked denitrification catalyst that reduces weight while enhancing functionality compared to existing products, and has completed the production line for this equipment.

The event was attended by about 200 people, including Governor Lee Cheol-woo, Nano CEO Shin Dong-woo, and Sangju Mayor Kang Young-seok. According to the company, the expanded production line, which cost 5 billion KRW, is expected to increase annual sales by about 10 billion KRW.

Nano Co., Ltd., which also operates production plants in China and Europe, is a mid-sized company that produces catalyst filters that convert nitrogen oxides, the main cause of fine dust pollutants, into harmless nitrogen, achieving sales of 38.9 billion KRW last year.

The newly developed stacked denitrification catalyst is a product suitable for LNG power plants. Nano Co., Ltd. developed a prototype through a research and development project by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy since 2016, and after internal verification and field application tests, established the production line.

CEO Shin Dong-woo of Nano said, "Expanding one production line is expected to generate about 10 billion KRW in sales and create 10 new jobs," adding, "We plan to establish a total of 10 production lines over the next five years and expect to achieve 100 billion KRW in sales from the stacked denitrification catalyst."

Governor Lee Cheol-woo said, "The completion of Nano's production line is a representative model of Gyeongbuk Province's overcoming of COVID-19, progressing from national R&D to commercialization, which is very encouraging," emphasizing, "Rather than shrinking due to COVID-19, it is now time to maintain social distancing while actively engaging in economic activities for the post-COVID era."
