[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Hanwha Systems announced on the 21st that it successfully installed the Combat Management System (CMS) on the Philippines' latest escort ship, the Jose Rizal, which set sail on the 18th.
The Jose Rizal is a 2,600-ton class escort ship of the Philippine Navy, built by Hyundai Heavy Industries, and is equipped with the FFX Batch-II class combat system developed by Hanwha Systems.
The Combat Management System, the brain of a warship that determines the outcome of naval battles, is a weapon system designed to integrate and operate various sensors, armaments, and other communication and command systems installed on the ship. Hanwha Systems is currently the only company in Korea with the capability to develop combat management systems, including the development of the FFX-III next-generation escort ship combat system.
A Hanwha Systems official stated, “Over the past 40 years, we have supplied combat management systems to more than 80 surface ships and submarines of the Republic of Korea Navy, continuously upgrading performance to develop and mass-produce world-class advanced combat systems. We hope that the export of domestically produced combat management systems will expand to countries in Southeast Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East in the future.”
