The Status of the Mountain Sport 'Cheongsong Ice Climbing World Cup' Rises Higher The view of Eoreumgol in Juwangsan-myeon, Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk.


[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Dong-wook] The 'Cheongsong Ice Climbing World Cup,' which has attracted world-class athletes every winter for the past decade, will continue to be held at Cheongsong Eoreumgol for another five years.


On the 20th, Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do announced that the Korea Alpine Federation and the International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation (UIAA) have decided to extend the Cheongsong Ice Climbing World Cup until 2025.


Accordingly, Cheongsong-gun will be able to further enhance the utilization of facilities such as the climbing center, climbing lodging village, and artificial rock wall, which were developed at a cost of 19.5 billion KRW, and continue to host a more prepared competition.


Cheongsong-gun, which hosted the Ice Climbing World Cup for the first time in Asia in 2011, has received acclaim for hosting the world's best World Cup competition over the past decade by operating the event and managing facilities based on perfect infrastructure at Cheongsong Eoreumgol.


At the competition held on January 11-12 this year, more than 120 athletes from 25 countries, including the top-ranked athletes ranked 1st to 8th in the world, competed fiercely for the championship trophies in both difficulty and speed events.


Governor Yoon Kyung-hee stated, "Through the extension of the Cheongsong Ice Climbing World Cup, we plan to widely promote 'Oxygen Cafe Cheongsong-gun' to the world and further develop it as an international mountain leisure sports mecca," adding, "We will do our best to contribute to revitalizing the local economy as well."
